Robert Christopher

Colonie - Robert "Bobby" Christopher passed away at home on August 31, 2016.
Bobby was the son of the late Daniel and Irene (Rina) Christopher of South Troy. Bobby relocated to Colonie in November 1953 when he wed the love of his life Josephine.

A hardworking man from the age of 15, he so proudly provided for his mom and then for his wife and their three daughters. A longtime proud member of Teamster Local #294, he often reminisced and shared stories of his days on the road.

Bobby is predeceased by his daughter Joanne, his grandson "Jeffie Kid" (Jeffrey Michael) and his closest and dearest friend John. Bobby was always recalling his memories and great times with those gone before him.

Bobby is survived by his loving and devoted wife Josie; his daughters Joyce Christopher and Mary Ann VanBlarcom; grandchildren, Kelly Johnson, Joshua (Rachel), Sean, and Greg (Val) Gilbert, and Christopher VanBlarcom. He is also survived by four great grandchildren – Cameron, Eli and Brandon Gilbert and Josie Johnson along with a nephew and several nieces, one of which will always be his "little pork chop".

The family is very appreciative to all who contributed to Bobby's care – Community Hospice of Schenectady and especially his incredibly kind and generous neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, it was Bobby's wishes to have contributions made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 6 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
