Robert "Bob" Charbonneau, a man who lived life to its absolute fullest with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family, passed away leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories. Born on February 22, 1950, in Cohoes, NY, he was the son of the late Leo J Charbonneau and Beatrice A. Charbonneau.
At his humble beginning, Bob’s sharp mind and work ethic were evident early on. Immediately out of high school, he began working as a computer operator and programmer. Through decades of dedication and hard work, he advanced his career into hospital administration, a testament to his intelligence and leadership.
While he was known as a rough-and-tumble teenager in his youth, Bob grew into a man of diverse and gentle passions. As a senior citizen, he found joy in the quiet beauty of bird watching. He was deeply logical and the ultimate problem solver, always dependable for finding simple, practical solutions to everyday problems. His mind remained incredibly sharp, a trait he exercised daily by completing the New York Times crossword, Wordle, Words with Friends and various other word games.
Bob’s enthusiasm for life was infectious. He was an avid golfer who not only loved the game but also ran local leagues. He was famous for his epic Halloween haunted houses, which brought joy and excitement to neighbors and family alike. A passionate fan of the New York Giants, Bob also appreciated the finer things in life, firmly believing that the best cocktail always involved vodka.
Above all, Bob was a man of deep feeling and joy. He could be hopelessly romantic, wonderfully funny, and possessed an uncanny ability to use not-so-subtle innuendo in the most hilariously unsubtle ways. He embraced the true essence of fatherhood and family, anchoring his household with strength, guidance, and unconditional love. He succeeded entirely in his goal to enjoy family time, travel, love, and laughter every single day.
Bob was the beloved husband and devoted partner of Virginia "Ginny" Rucinski Charbonneau. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with adventure, including the remarkable achievement of playing golf in all 50 American states.
In addition to his loving wife, Ginny, Bob is survived by his devoted children: his daughter, Amy M. Charbonneau Patentreger and her husband, David; and his son, Eric J. Charbonneau and his wife, Deborah Palmer Charbonneau.
He was the proud grandfather of his granddaughters, Brittany Palmer and Alyssa Patentreger; and his grandsons, Zackery Crittenden, Tyler Everett, and Andrew Patentreger. His legacy continues through his great-grandsons, Alex Manager and Caleb Charbonneau, and his great-granddaughters, Lainey Patentreger and Eden Taylor Charbonneau.
It is not possible to express how very much his memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him. He will be missed every moment of every day.
Those wishing to remember Bob in a special way may send a contribution to the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Emergency Corps at 15 Crossing Blvd, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
