Robert C. Batchelder, Sr.

May 23, 1946 — April 4, 2025

Robert C. "Bob" Batchelder Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025.

Bob was born and raised in Colonie, the son of the late Kenneth and Ellen (Millerick) Batchelder.

He proudly served six years in the reserves as a United States Marine. He was a member of the Latham Knights of Columbus and the United States Power Squadron. He coached several baseball teams for Latham Little League, even sponsoring his own team named after his company, Batchelder Masonry.

Bob worked as a mason, laying countless foundations throughout the Capital District. As a lifelong fisherman, Bob was happiest when he was out on a boat with a fishpole in his hand, and spent hours teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish. He loved making Sunday breakfast, being at camp sitting around the fire making smores, and telling "Dad" jokes. He was a diehard NY Yankees fan, and loved watching the games with his loved ones. Bob was an avid bowler and is a member of the 300 Club. Bob will be remembered for his kindness to all, big heart, big smile, sense of humor, his love of scratch-offs, and his big Batchelder laugh.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Mike, Bill, and Andy Batchelder.

Bob is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Sally; three amazing children, Dawn (Mark) Rizzo, Tammy Batchelder, and Robert Batchelder Jr.; four beautiful grandchildren whom he cherished, Ashley, Tresaliana, Abigail, Peyton, and his honorary granddaughter, Riley Jean; siblings, Edith "Tootie" Hanke (Herb) and Pat Batchelder (Karen); and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy-Schenectady Road, Watervliet. Interment to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

The family would like to thank Dr. Weiss and Dr. McDonald and their staff for the excellent care and compassion, and his many neighbors and friends for their kindness.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Bob's honor to the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.
