Richard (Rich) Francis Haggerty, 83, of Latham, NY, passed away on 11/09/25 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born on December 18, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, Rich was the son of the late Edward M. and Gertrude E. (Goeckeritz) Haggerty. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Marchant) Haggerty for 54 years.

Rich was raised in Albany and graduated from Vincentian High School in 1959. He continued his education and graduated from Siena College in 1963 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1968. He worked at the Watervliet Arsenal for over 36 years, primarily at Benet Laboratories as a programmer/systems analyst and later as Chief of the Automation Management Branch.

Rich had many interests in life, including classic cars, traveling, boating and golfing to name a few. However, his true passion was spending time with family and friends. For the past 15 years, Rich and Betty were snowbirds in Orlando, Florida, where they developed many more great friendships and a love for bocce! Rich was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Latham NY.

Rich was predeceased by his two brothers: Edward R. Haggerty and John P. Haggerty. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty), and his three children: Patrick Haggerty, Kathleen Haggerty Torrey (Michael), Michael Haggerty; Grandchildren: Finn Torrey and Ciara Torrey. Also survived by sister-in-law’s: Nancy Haggerty, Mary Lettieri, Jean Petrilak, Debra Marchant; brother-in-law: Harry von Rogov as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews

Relatives and friends are invited to call on 11/16/25 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 181 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Watervliet, NY 12189. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 17 at 9:00AM at St. Ambrose Church, Latham, NY 12110. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery at 2501 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna, NY 12309. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to St. Ambrose Food Pantry, 347 Old Loudon Rd, Latham NY 12110 or the Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Rd., Latham NY 12110.
