Guilderland- Dr. Richard "Dick" H. Edmonds, 83, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Dick was born on May 10, 1933 in Carbondale, PA, to the late Eric and Janice Day.

Dick was a graduate of Blossburg PA High School, class of 1951, and served in the United States Navy from 1951 - 1955 as a Navy Corpsman. Dick earned a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Buffalo, in 1965 he earned a Ph.D. in Anatomy from SUNY Buffalo, and was also awarded an honorary DSc from Albany Medical College in 2000. After graduation, he accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Anatomy at Albany Medical College and started his 35 year career. While at Albany Medical College he served as the Director of the Anatomical Gift Program, Director of Admissions, Executive Associate Dean and twice as the Interim Dean. Upon his retirement in 2000, the Richard H. Edmonds Alumni Award for student leadership was created in recognition of his dedication to the Albany Medical College and the Albany Medical Center. He was also a member of the Town of Guilderland Conservation and Zoning Boards, and the Town Republican Committee. After retirement, he served as a consultant to the NYS board of Education and was a Regent's appointee to the NYS Board for Professional Medical Conduct. Dick was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and always enjoyed completing the crossword puzzles in the NY Times.

Dick is survived by his wife Nancy Combs Edmonds whom he married in December, 2000; daughters: Susan Edmonds of Mendon, MA, Janice (Thomas) Rodgers of Somerset, NJ, and Nancy J. Edmonds of Arnold, MD; brother: Eric A. Edmonds of Berwick, ME; and nephew: Cameron Edmonds of Lowell, MA.

In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his first wife: Anne T. Donigan Edmonds, who passed on February 21, 1999.

A graveside service of life celebration will be held on September 3, 2016, at 11:00 am, at the Albany Rural Cemetery, Albany, NY.
