ROTTERDAM – Richard C. Hickok, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born on November 28, 1933 in Rotterdam and was the son of the late James Moran Hickok Sr. and Elizabeth Murphy Hickok. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Schultz Construction in Round Lake, NY. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, hiking, canoeing, motorcycle riding and racing, but most especially spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the Iroquois Rod and Gun Club and he worked for many years on the Empire State Games as a shooting coach.
Richard is the loving and devoted husband of 59 years to Roberta M. (Cernik) Hickok; loving father of Patricia Weakley, Richard (Shelley) Hickok, Susan (Rulison) Hickok, Jennene Perillo and the late Michael Hickok; loving father-in-law of Sherry Hickok and the late Robert Perillo; cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren, Corey J. Weakley, Craig R. Weakley, Dennis A. Weakley, Zachary S. (Erika) Weakley, Gregg Hickok, Heather (Jess) Nay, Carrie Hickok, Kelly Hickok, Sarah Hickok, Brian Rulison, Shawn Rulison, Michael (Randi) Hickok Jr., and Billy Hickok; 15 great grandchildren, Paige Hickok, Joshua Insco, Ava Weakley, Trevor Weakley, Liam Weakley, Andrew Nay, Alyssa Nay, Nathan Hickok, Lucas Grenier, Caleigh Grenier, Jared Crandall, Jessica Crandall, Addisyn Crandall, Treston Lawyer, and Caitlyn Lawyer; and one great great grandson, Jace James Nay. He was predeceased by his siblings, James Hickok Jr. and Anne Newton and grandsons, Mark Taber and Matthew Hickok. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Entombment will be held at Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam at a later date.
