Colonie - Ralph A. Bellanger, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday January 18, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in West Springfield, Mass., Ralph was the son of the late John and Grace (Gladden) Bellanger.
Ralph was raised in Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1957. Following school, Ralph was employed by A&P Market and as a dock worker for Springmeier Shipping Company until its closing. Ralph then followed his passion and co-owned a sports memorabilia shop in Colonie for many years. He was last employed by BJ's Wholesale Club in Colonie.
Ralph will be missed for his sense of humor and easy-going, good-hearted nature. He was an avid reader and conversationalist with an extensive knowledge of history and politics. He also enjoyed bowling, metal detecting, sports memorabilia and coin collecting, and he was a well-respected seller/buyer on e-Bay. Throughout his life he was an unfailing NY Mets and NY Giants fan.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Rose; children Ralph, John, Kevin (Maura), Kim (Dawn Oliver) and Michael Chambers; sister Beverly (Kenneth) Hulsopple of Springhill Fla.; sisters-in-law Joan, Hellen, and Gloria (Steve) Hollner; brother-in-law Dominic Lanza of Franklin, NY and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ralph was predeceased by his son Mark; his brothers John, Robert, Donald and Richard Bellanger; and sisters-in-law Jean and Barbara Bellanger.
Visitation will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by a short memorial service at 5:00 pm.
