Pierette C VanWie, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on May, 23 2025 at the age of 76. She was born in Gloversville, NY on August 6, 1948 to Hachadour and Virginia Chakmakian.

Pierette was a loving mother to Teresa, Christine, Robert, Elizabeth and grandchildren: Makaila, Preston, Lorelei, Cooper, Mason, Braelin and James. She was known for her creativity with knitting, weaving, crocheting, spinning, needlepoint and her ability to share her creative gift with others.

Pierette had careers working as a Beautician, Homemaker, Baker, Seamstress and caring for others. Later in life she went back to school to earn her associate’s degree from SUNY Cobleskill. But her true passion was caring for her grandkids for the past 15 years.

She is survived by her children Teresa VanWie, Christine Brown (Robert Brown) Robert VanWie (Jessica) and Elizabeth Van Wie-Goring (Jon Goring) and grandchildren: Makaila, Preston, Lorelei, Cooper, Mason, Braelin and James. as well as her siblings Donna Ryder (Skip Hulland) and George Chakmakian (June) and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Hachadour and Virginia Chakmakian; brother Nicholas; and husband Robert J. Van Wie.

A private service and burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Pierette's memory.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Albany Medical Center and Schenectady Center for taking special care of Pierette the past 5 months.
