Colonie- Phyllis Carpentier, 79, passed away peacefully with her children beside her on Friday, November 18, 2016. She was born in Natrona, PA to the late Lawrence S. Reichert and Mae F. Reichert.
She moved to Colonie when her father was transferred to Alleghany Ludlum Steel in 1953. Phyllis was a graduate of Colonie Central High School in 1955. She retired after 25 years of service from the Times Union. After retirement, Phyllis continued to work part time in the South Colonie School District as a hall monitor, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Phyllis loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Wildwood with her children, bus trips with her daughter, and loved visiting her sister in Florida. She was a free spirit and had many friends over the years who will miss her dearly.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Michele Lee (Thomas), Terry and Larry Carpentier. In addition to her children she is also survived by her three sisters, Joan Meixelsberger (Ted) of Lower Burrel, PA, Kathleen Guthan (Donald) of Bradenton, FL and Dolores Saccocio (Lou) of Bradenton, FL. She is also survived by two grandsons and several nephews and a niece.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens.
