Albany- Philip L. Elhoff passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 18, 2016. He was 85 years old. The son of the late Philip L. and Anna Louise (Litchenburger) Elhoff, Philip was born on August 13, 1930 in Jamaica, NY. Philip grew up in Bellrose, NY with his two sisters. After high school he went on to work at Sperry Rand in Lake Success, NY for over 30 years. It was here that he met his soulmate Marilyn Yates. They were married on August 7, 1955 and spent 54 wonderful years together before her passing. The both loved sports and were season ticket holders for the Mets, Islanders and the River Rats after they moved to Albany when they retired. They also loved to vacation throughout the United States, especially at Gilbert Lake.
Philip was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He always saw the best in people. Despite the effects of having polio as a child, Philip never was one to complain. He lived his life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Philip was the best father a daughter could have to Diana (Andy) Pinto; loving grandfather to: Michelle and Daniel (Megan Rifenburgh) Pinto and wonderful uncle to: Faye (Terry) Youngblood, Franklin (Bonnie) Fogal, Christopher (Christine) and Jonathan Clay.
In addition to his parents and wife, Philip was predeceased by two sisters: Elizabeth Fogal and Adelaide Parsons.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 21 at The Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY. Burial will be private.
