Peter Michael Ramo, 82, Son of the late Albert and Virginia (McGillin) Ramo was born in Jamaica, no not the island but in Jamaica NY on February 20, 1943. Peter was the oldest of 4, siblings were Mariann Cohen, Joseph and Dyann. He was Predeceased by his parents, siblings Mariann and Joseph and his son Matthew.

After seeing Diana Bender on the NYC Subway/EL for many weeks they finally started talking. They began dating and both graduated from NYC community college in 1963. They were married on September 12, 1964, living in Brooklyn. They moved several times going to Amityville, Albany and Altamont. After he grew up in the NYC projects they ultimately settled on a 10+ acre farm that was an absolute great place to raise his children.

He is the proud parents of Matthew, Mary, Leonard (MJ), Christina, Andrew, Carolyn and Catherine. Proud Grandparents of Siearra, Schuyler, and Dakoatah Miller, Charlie, Julianna, and Annabelle Ramo, Matthew Ramo, Trinity and Lyncoln Cusson, Logan Conery and Hailey Ferber. He has a great granddaughter, Addelyn Miller. Peter is also survived by his sister-in-law Eugenia Mikolatis, and many extended family members.

On July 11, 1963, he started a career with the NYS Dept of Taxation and Finance. Working his way up over the years to NYS Tax Bureau Chief. He retired from this position in April of 2005. While his kids were growing up Diana and him were very involved in 4-H, they raised sheep and goats that the kids proudly showed at the Altamont and NY State fair. After retirement Peter bought a winter home in Delray Beach FL, this would become an escape from the cold of the Northeast. It also became a brief winter reprieve for some of his children during the winter. Peter also was a loyal friend of Bill W for 54 years.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Wednesday January 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 15, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Madeleine Sophie, 3500 Carmen Rd., Schenectady, NY. Interment will follow the Mass at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY.
