Loudonville — Peter F. Gilroy, 63, of Loudonville, New York, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness.
Born on August 10, 1962, he was the son of the late Margaret “Maggie” (nee:Hale) and Joseph Gilroy.
He dedicated many years of service to New York State before retiring. In retirement, he lived a quiet life and enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including cheering on the New York Yankees and New York Giants, watching action movies, and country western shows. His favorite cowboy hat and leather vest became his trademark and were a familiar sight to all who knew him. He will be remembered with love and affection.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved siblings Lorraine Danton (Bernard) and Joseph “Noel” Gilroy, and his nephew Ryan Gilroy.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his brother Martin “Desi” Gilroy (Patricia); his sisters Erin Lewis (Rodney), Margaret “Meg” Rock (Robert), and June Gilroy (Gerald Fitzgerald); his nieces and nephews Benjamin and Casey Danton; Annie and Desmond Gilroy and Molly Amado (Mano); Eamon (Adele), Brendan (Jean), and Kieran Rock; Hannah, Fiona, and Ian Fitzgerald; and Liam Gilroy.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Nancy Breyette, a loving and devoted friend whose extraordinary kindness and support meant so much to Peter.
