Mariaville Lake - Peggy J. Lashway, affectionately known as Oma to family and friends, passed away peacefully at age 75 on July 16, 2025. She was born July 26, 1949 to the late Charles and Betty Farnum in Troy Hospital.

Peggy graduated from Waterford-Hafmoon and was a pioneering female in the field of coding. She retired from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Department of Mathematical Sciences in 2001. She continued her education with the Mid-America Baptist Seminary and never stopped pursuing a deeper understanding of her Christian beliefs.

Peggy spent part of her retirement in Sun City Center Florida, making many friends and lasting memories. She returned to the Capital Region to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Peggy will be remembered for her boundless kindness, resolute faith and the joyous love she shared with her family. She enjoyed crosswords, puzzles, and the color Purple. Peggy adored reading and collected a library's worth of books. The thing that Peggy cherished most was the fifty-six years she spent raising a family with her soulmate, Frank.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Francis A. Lashway Jr., her children, Francis A. (Minerva) Lashway III, Bryan J. (Christine) Lashway, Felicia A. Lashway, Danielle M. (James) Zyniecki. 18 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren. Siblings June Farnum-Vandersteen, Charles Farnum, Craig Farnum, Duane Farnum, and Bonita Machnick. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held at Immanuel Church, 274 Columbia Turnpike Rensselaer, NY 12144 on Sunday, August 3rd, at 4:00 pm with a celebration of Peggy’s life to follow
