Paul D. Wiser, 91, a lifelong resident of Schenectady, passed away on October 2, 2025, at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of the late John Leo Wiser and Hazel Christine Wiser.
For most of his life, Paul lived in Schenectady, but for the past year and a half he made his home in Castleton with his nephew, Brian K. Boodrow and Shawn Jeune. He especially loved sitting on the front porch, where he could watch the beautiful sunsets, a simple joy that brought him peace.
Paul worked for many years at Home Depot in Schenectady, where he was known for his hard work, kindness, and the friendships he built with coworkers and customers alike. He also shared his passion for woodworking through his side business, “Paul’s Wood Turnings,” creating unique and treasured pieces for family, friends, and the community.
Paul was a devoted husband to the late Marylin Boodrow Wiser, who passed away in 2022; and is also predeceased by his beloved son, Dean Wiser.
He is survived by his son, Craig Wiser (Gina); his nephew Brian K. Boodrow, and Shawn Jeune, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his wife Marylin and his son Dean.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a service to immediately follow, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
Paul will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his love of family, and the sunsets that gave him peace.
