Paul Frederick, 97, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 after a short illness. Paul was born in Albany NY, on August 22, 1928. His long and full life was marked by the love he had for his family & friends, community connections, and his desire to continue to learn every day.
Paul attended the Vincentian Institute in Albany, laying the foundation for a lifetime of curiosity and learning. His early career included positions with GE and Mobile, but it was his short time with Greyhound, that brought him the most pride. He found joy in traveling all over and meeting people from all walks of life. Later in his career, Paul served as an engineer for the New York State Department of Health until his retirement. In addition to his professional pursuits, Paul enjoyed owning and managing several rental homes.
One thing Paul was very proud of is when he was 19 he built his first house himself, where all his children were raised. Paul had a special interest in history - he loved talking to people and visiting local landmarks and historic sites. Paul especially cherished time spent in the Lake George region. Summers at his cabin on the lake were filled with boating, jet skiing, swimming, and making memories with family. His presence at many pubs in Lake George as well as the Across the Street Pub in Albany made him a familiar face to many. In retirement, Paul gave back to his community by volunteering at events such as Lights in the Park in Albany and at the Albany Airport. Paul was also known to attend several Catholic churches and services throughout the capital region each Sunday.
Paul’s legacy lives on through those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his brother Robert J. Frederick of Atlanta Ga; his children, Paulette Frederick of Lake Luzerne, Donnie Frederick (Debbie) of Altamont, Sharon Kendall (Dave) of Lake George, and Jeanne Maurer (Jake) of Freehold; his grandchildren, Christina Nicholson (Darrell), James Goldston (Donna), Mardine Perrins (Harlan), Kristen Ruby (Jeff), Jeffrey Frederick (Katie), Elisa Green (Josh), Bobby Kendall (Ashley), Patrick Frederick (Tiffany), and Becky Kendall, Andrew Mcleer (Jesse), & Zack Chewins (Stephanie); as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime life partner Joan Driggs.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Gertrude (Cummings) and George H. Frederick; his brother George J. Frederick; his first wife, Vera (VanderLey) Frederick; and his late wife, Beatrice Frederick.
Paul will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
