Albany- Patricia Mathusa, 81, formerly of Albany, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on, November 13, 2016 in Ocala, Florida, where she was currently a resident. She was the daughter of the late Marie Nelson and Ed Hart. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Martin "Marty" Mathusa.
She is survived by six loving children Thomas (Patricia) Mathusa of Las Vegas; Linda Waite (Kevin) of Oxford, Florida; Deborah (Jim) Hutton of Protem, Missouri; Jean (Shawn) Maloney of Mechanicville, New York; Joan Frontiera of Gloucester, MA ; and Marcia (Fred) Potter of Ocala, Florida. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua, Stephen, Danielle, Christopher, Crystal, Anthony, Kandice, Tanya and Mikhaela, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a loving sister to Dorothy "Sissy" Grenier, Charlotte Jones (Jim), Charles "Butch" Hart (Kathy), Peggy "Punky" Earing (Don); Francis "Lee" Hart ; and the late Rosie Caldwell.
Anyone who knew Pat knew that if she became your friend, she was a friend for life. Her friends were her lifeline and she cherished each and every one of them, many of whom were friends from childhood, one being 77 years, Betty Rose. She worked as a waitress for most of her life. After moving to Florida for a period, she returned to Albany where she and Marty opened the Smack Bar in Ballston Spa, operating it for many years. She and Marty also lived in Oklahoma and Idaho before finally settling in Ocala, where they resided for nine years. She had a deep, abiding love for her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, and meant the world to her. Her one other love in life was bingo, slots and POKER, she played them all! She enjoyed playing cards of any kind and enjoyed a good visit to the casino! She was also a great food lover and made the best spaghetti sauce on the planet!
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 10:00am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany, NY 12211. Interment will follow Mass at Prospect Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside service at, Fairways of Halfmoon, 17 Johnson Rd, Mechanicville, NY 12118.
