COLONIE- Norma F. Liberatore passed into eternal life with our Heavenly Father on October 29, 2016. She was born in Fort Edward, NY on December 30, 1925 to the late Paul and Maria Sciarretta and was predeceased by her husband Anselmo A. Liberatore, sisters Concettina Sciarretta and Tosca Twichell and a brother, Domenic Sciarretta, grandson, Mark F. Coons and son-in-law, Stephen J. Angier.
Norma was proud of her employment as a meat cutter/meat packer for many years in Glens Falls and Troy, NY. She was active in politics and one of the first females in Troy to run for Alderman in her ward. She resided in the Capital District and then moved to Walterboro, SC where she and her husband resided for 23 years. She was the organist at St. Anthony's Church in Walterboro for 20 years, President of 2 clubs, entertained in nursing homes and volunteered for Shepherd's Care, providing respite to caretakers of Alzheimer's patients.
Norma gave of herself all the time- to children who needed a place to go on weekends and holidays and the elderly. She always thought of others before her needs and was loved and respected by all, especially her three daughters.
Survivors include her daughters, Maria R. DePaul-Tobey (George), Virginia M. "Mickey" Angier, Patricia M. Sottong (Kim), grandchildren Jody M. Weidel (Karl), Matthew S. Angier (Mara) and Jaime L. Griffin (Robert), great-grandchildren Nicole M. Weidel, Ashley A. Weidel and Mason S. Angier, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted from the Newcomer Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 12:00pm. Calling hours will be held from 11:00am-12:00 pm prior to the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to remember Norma in a special way send contributions to their favorite charity or food bank.
