Albany-Nicholas C. Desmo, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 17, 1931 in Troy, the son of the late Charles and Alice Rudell Desmo. A lifelong resident of the area, Nick graduated from Albany High School.
Nick was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, 11th Airborne Division Association. He was an electrician for IBEW Local 724, retiring in 1993 and a lifelong member of 59 years with Westmere Fire Department. Nick was an avid golfer and loved taking trips to Las Vegas. Most of all, Nick was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be sadly missed by all.
Nick was predeceased by his loving wife, Jean F. Paul Desmo, who passed away in 1991. He is survived by his loving family, son, James Desmo (Phyllis); daughters, Donna Riley and Darlene Desmo; step-daughter, Kathy Leonard (Kevin); grandchildren, Christina, Amie, Ashley, Megan, Caitlyn and Kevin; eight great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and his furry friend, Monty.
Calling hours for Nick will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery with military honors.
