Nettie Mae Williams

Nettie Mae Williams, 79, of Troy, New York, peacefully passed away on May 12, 2026. Born on December 15, 1946, in Manning, South Carolina, Nettie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, partner, aunt, and friend whose kindness touched everyone who knew her.

Nettie dedicated 17 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Van Rensselaer Manor, where she cared for others with the same gentle and compassionate spirit she carried throughout her life. She was known for her warm heart, giving nature, and the way she made people feel loved and welcomed. Whether through a comforting conversation, a home-cooked meal, or simply her presence, Nettie had a special gift for caring for others.

She loved cooking for her family and brought joy to many gatherings with her delicious meals and loving energy. Nettie’s sweet soul, gentle nature, and unwavering love for her family will always be remembered and deeply missed.

Nettie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Glen Pompey; her granddaughter, Rutha Davis; her father, Sylvester Witherspoon; her mother, Floreen Simon; and her sister, Janet Simon.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Lisa Pompey; her grandchildren, Rakeem Pompey, Maurice Pompey, Niasia Pompey, and Naszir Pompey; her sister, Elleree Rivers; her longtime partner, Ernest Lewis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

Though her presence will be greatly missed, the love, care, and kindness Nettie shared with so many will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a celebration of Nettie's life to immediately follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Trroy Schenectady Road, Watervliet.
