Natalya Swider

Natalya (Grigorieva) Swider passed away peacefully in her home on October 25, 2026 at the age of 54, after a long illness. She was surrounded by family and love.

Natalya was working as an airline ticket agent in Novosibirsk, Russia, when Michael Swider walked in and booked both a flight and a date. Michael and Natalya stayed together from that day. Full of adventure and an eagerness to travel, Natalya was soon off to live in Moscow, where to two got engaged, and then married in 1996. Later, Natalya made the brave choice to move to the United States to start a new life in Boston, where she worked in financial services. The two later moved to Virginia, where daughter Victoria was born, before finally settling in Loudonville NY, where she and Michael built a home together.

She continued to work in financial services while also pursuing her passions for gardening and travel. The kitchen was full of fresh vegetables, flowers and homemade jams in the summers, while winters were spent planning travel around Europe to enjoy the sites, museums and cuisines.

Described by her friends as being someone with a beautiful pure soul, who was practical, clear-headed, and caring, Natalya was someone who loved beauty and created it. She sought to share that beauty with others, always being one to give someone a bouquet or bulbs that they could use to grow flowers in their own yard.

Besides her husband and daughter, Natalya leaves behind her three sisters-in-law (Sarah, Karen and Stacy) along with nieces, nephews and many friends who all loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents Sergei and Tatiana. 

There will be a private memorial.
