Naomi L. Garner, 50, of Troy, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of April 24th, surrounded by the unwavering love of her family.
She was born in Albany, NY, on November 28th, 1975, to Robin Bradley and James Casey Sr.
Naomi was the heart of her family, a devoted and loving wife, an endlessly proud mother, a cherished daughter, sister, and a loyal friend to so many. For over 25 years, she worked as a customer service representative at Nassau, where she built not only a career, but a second family.
The friendships she formed there were lasting, meaningful, and deeply valued. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Naomi shared a 26-year marriage with her husband, Mark Garner Sr., a partnership rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a life filled with simple, meaningful moments, like walking their dog side by side, soaking in the sun, and finding peace in each other’s presence. Their bond was one of true companionship, a love that endured through every season of life.
As a mother, Naomi was extraordinary. She poured her heart into her children, Mark Garner Jr., Matthew Garner (Elaina), and Samantha Garner, celebrating their every success and standing beside them through every challenge. She often said they were her greatest accomplishments, and she lived that truth every day. Her love for them was fierce, selfless, and unconditional, leaving a mark that will guide them for the rest of their lives.
Naomi’s love extended far beyond her immediate family. She treasured time spent with her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, especially her beloved nephews Cody, Christopher, and Aiden, whom she loved as her own. Known affectionately as “Aunt Omi,” she embraced that role with joy, laughter, and a nurturing spirit that made everyone feel seen and loved.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, beach trips, especially to Atlantic City with her aunt and cousins, quiet walks, and warm days spent in the sun. No matter where she was, Naomi brought light, comfort, and a sense of belonging to those around her. Naomi’s life was also a testament to extraordinary strength. In just six short years, she faced three separate cancer diagnoses, breast, ovarian, and blood cancer, with a courage that inspired everyone who knew her. Through every battle, she carried herself with grace, resilience, and an unbreakable spirit. She never gave up. Even in her most difficult moments, Naomi continued to fight, to hope, and to love. In her final months, she organized a blood drive as a way to give back, an act that perfectly reflected her selflessness and gratitude.
Naomi is survived by her loving husband, Mark Garner Sr., her children, Mark Garner Jr., Matthew Garner (Elaina), and Samantha Garner, her mother, Robin Bradley, her father, James Casey Sr. (Phyllis), and her brother, James Casey Jr. (Melissa). She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory forward with love.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 1 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
