Molly L. Konczewski
September 3, 1932 — June 28, 2016
Molly Konczewski departed this life on June 28th while at the Loris Rehab & Nursing Center where she resided since moving to SC in December 2015.
She was born in 1932 in Depew, NY to the late Mollie (Szablewski) and Louis Domino.
Her family later moved to Albany, NY where she met her husband, Walter Konczewski who predeceased her in 2006 after 55 years of marriage.
Molly worked for the NY State Dept. of Taxation & Finance for over 28 years before retiring in 1987. She was extremely active throughout her working years. Molly was a member of CSEA, a past shop steward and Tax Local 690 delegate and served for many years on the annual CSEA Doll Committee. Molly also was a past manager, officer and a lifetime auxiliary member of the Polish Community Center in Albany. She was a former Tax Alumni Club president and volunteered at St. Peter's Hospital.
Upon moving to New London, CT in 2006 she volunteered at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital there. She made many new friends while living in Connecticut and stayed connected with friends and family she left behind in NY state.
Molly loved traveling, going out to restaurants, Polish music & food, and her daughter's faithful, adoring 4 legged companion named Jacoby. She will be remembered as a loving and compassionate person by all who knew her.
Members of her family she leaves behind include her daughter Barbara Rapp of Little River, SC, brother Robert Domino of Schenectady, NY, granddaughter Kathleen Rapp of New London, CT, Thomas Rapp II & his wife Peg of CA, Kelly Rapp Anderson of GA, niece Mary Ann Schmidt & husband Steven of Moultonborough, NH, a very special goddaughter, Bernice Doring and husband Thomas, and many other special cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and dear relatives and friends including a special friend John Czajkowski of Clifton Park, NY.
Family will receive guests at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie on July 7, 2016 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A Catholic funeral service will be held Friday July 8, 2016 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
