Michela DiCaprio

Michela DiCaprio, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Michela was born on May 8, 1948, in Amorosi, Italy, the daughter of the late Francesco and Elvira (Mezza) Mongillo. Michela was a loving wife, mother, and Nonna.

She was a selfless and gentle soul with unwavering devotion to her family and God. Her kindness touched the lives of everyone she crossed paths with. She was a dedicated employee of Glendale Nursing Home.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Andrea DiCaprio, and her daughter-in-law, Sherrill Smith DiCaprio. 

Michela leaves behind two loving sons, Domenico DiCaprio (Tatsiana) and Andrea DiCaprio Jr. and his wife, Becky; and her grandchildren, Noah and Ella DiCaprio. She is also survived by two brothers, Pietro and Vincenzo Mongillo, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

To honor Michela's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Her philosophy was, "Bring me flowers while I am alive." A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at St. Luke’s Church, 1235 State St., Schenectady, NY. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care ALS.
