Michael Andrew Skowronek

Michael Andrew Skowronek, 62, of Albany, NY, died in Albany, NY after a brief urgent illness on March 2, 2026.

Mike was born August 28, 1963, eldest son of Marie Hroncich Skowronek Riker and Michael Raymond Skowronek.

Mike attended St. Stanislaus School, Amsterdam, NY, and graduated high school from the former Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes, NY in 1981. Mike played on the tennis team at Keveny. Mike also attended the former Junior College of Albany (now part of Russell Sage College, Albany campus). Mike worked with his father at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville, NY.

Mike also worked at several restaurants and was a grill master. Mike was an avid sports fan who Marie remembers started to read Sports Illustrated as a child. He was a former fan of the San Francisco 49ers and a current fan of the Buffalo Bills (Go Bills!) and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In the past few years he attended with his brothers a number of SEC College football games.

Mike was predeceased by his father, Michael (1974) and is survived by his mother Marie (David), and his sisters Mary, Joanne (Dan), Lora (Shawn), Gretchen (Wayne) and Heather (Charlie), and his brothers Mark, Peter, Raymond and Steve (Mary), and a great number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle and cousin who had a big heart that was generous with his time and talents who will be greatly missed and is gone too soon. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211 with a mass to immediately follow. Burial will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Schenectady Rd, Schenectady, NY 12309.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville, NY or The Center for Disability Services Foundation, Inc., 22 Corporate Woods, 5th Floor, Albany, NY 12211
