Michael Kelly

Michael F. Kelly passed away on July 16th, 2026. He was 69 years old.

Born in Albany, NY to parents Robert Kelly and Grace (Osborn) Kelly, Michael was raised in Utica, Schenectady and Latham, NY. He played football at Shaker High School, where he graduated from in 1975. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the New York Giants. His love of sports extended to golf and softball, of which he participated in leagues for both throughout his life.

Michael had a long and successful 38 year career with the New York State (NYS) Department of Labor (DOL) where he worked in various supervisory, management and business analyst roles before retiring in 2017. It’s at the NYS DOL where Michael met his wife Wendy (Wasserman) Kelly. They spent many happy years together enjoying friends, camping, fishing, dancing, live music and boating.

Michael is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Grace, step mother Irene (Ploof) Kelly, son Bradd Kelly, and father-in- law Louis Wasserman. He is survived by his loving wife Wendy (Wasserman) Kelly, stepsons Ryan (Maegan) Hanehan and Dylon Hanehan, daughter Heather (Paul) Croteau, brother Patrick Kelly, sister Barbara (Jeffrey) Tedesco, mother-in- law Joanne Wasserman, brother-in-law Robert (Elyse) Wasserman, sister-in-law Debbie Oliveras, nephews Ryan & Brandon Black, niece Tara Black, grandchildren Colton Croteau and Ainsley Croteau, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Viewing services will be at New Comer Funeral Home (343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY) on Monday, July 20 from 4-6 p.m. followed by a gathering immediately after services. All are welcome.
