Michael D. Hawkins

DELMAR- Michael D. Hawkins, age 86, passed away on October 22, 2026 at Eddy Village Green.

He was born in Albany, the son of the late George and Rita Hawkins. He was also predeceased by his sister Karen Hawkins-Grey.

Michael graduated from Bishop Manogue high school in Reno, Nevada. He served in the Army National Guard at Fort Ord. After years working as a boiler service technician, he changed careers and enjoyed many years as a whitewater guide for companies in North Creek and a ski patroller and tubing park supervisor at Gore Mountain. He also drove for bus tour companies and school buses. He retired from driving at Enterprise at 79.

He enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. John and Olivia’s games, school plays, and concerts. Saratoga track with his cousin Brian. Walking with the Empire State Capital Volkssporters.

Michael is survived by his wife of 16 years Irene Hawkins; her son, John Gavin (Amanda); grandchildren: John and Olivia; his brothers: George Hawkins, Kevin Hawkins (Carolyn); sister, Iris Hawkins; his children: Michael Hawkins (Traci), Dr. Micaire Hawkins (Ryan), Conor Hawkins (Amanda), and Meghan Roces (Patrick); grandchildren: Juniper Hawkins, Zoe Hawkins, Charly Charaba, Pip Charaba, Gunnar Hawkins, Natalie Hawkins; Sister-in-laws: Barbara Feeney and Sophia Palasz.

I would like to thank Micheal’s excellent caregivers at the Eddy Village Green house 6 and his home caregiver Jessica.
