Michael J. Fera

Colonie- Michael J. Fera, age 68, of Colonie, New York, passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. 

Born on September 21, 1956 in Watervliet, NY, he was the son of Rita C. DiPace (Cunningham) and the late Ralph B. Fera. Michael was a graduate of Shaker High School class of 1974 and was a contractor for over 40 years.

 Michael cherished spending time with his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He would attend every game, practice, concert, event and any adventure they asked for like Billy Beez, trampoline parks, playgrounds and trips to Stewart’s. His family was his world, especially his children and his beloved wife, Michele, whom he married in 1979. They shared 45 years of marriage creating countless memories with family and friends. They loved traveling and spending time on the beach and their annual trip to Las Vegas.

 Michael’s presence was always accompanied by jokes, laughter, happiness and snacks. He always put everyone's needs before his own, even through his 4-year battle with his illness. Michael is survived by his loving wife Michele (Cebula) Fera, his son Jason M. Fera, daughter-in-law Shannon Fera, daughter Deanne M. (Fera) DiPace, son-in-law Beau A. DiPace. 

Michael is also survived by his mother Rita C. (Cunningham) DiPace, brother Ralph B. Fera Jr., sister-in-law Kristin (Kelly) Fera, nephews Thomas (Kathy) Fera, David (Jacqueline) Fera, and niece Michele L. Fera and his beautiful granddaughters Alana Folmsbee, Alexis Fera, Madison DiPace, Morgan DiPace, Hailey Fera and Milena Fera. Michael will always be remembered for his generosity, humor, kindness and desire to always have a good time and make the best of every moment. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Community Hospice, New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. We thank Community Hospice for helping us through this very very difficult journey. Everyone involved were angels in disguise.
