With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother Maureen R. Ensign wife of the late Robert J. Ensign, who took her final breath at home, with an open heart and on her own terms with her sons present on April 30, 2026 at the age of 79. Maureen was a woman of strength, determination and beauty she lived as the cornerstone of a large and ever-growing now extended family.

Born November 28, 1946 in Albany, New York daughter of Catherine Premett (Myrtle) and Robert Myrtle.

Maureen was the oldest of 8 children from modest beginnings she guided them all to successful lives. She was an avid volunteer with the North Colonie Ambulance Squad and became one of the first volunteer female Paramedics in New York state. She also was a long-time member of Latham fire Departments Lady’s Auxiliary. She not only gave all for her family, but knew the importance of giving back to the community. During her decade long stint in clearwater Florida, she worked with challenged students at the local school district. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the camp in Schroon Lake- while in her later years she fully enjoyed camping throughout the eastern seaboard.

In addition to her husband, Maureen was predeceased by her brothers Michael Myrtle and Patrick Myrtle. 

She is survived by her sons Robert J. Ensign (Donna) Thomas L. Ensign (Dianne) James L. Ensign. Her Grandchildren Thomas (Megan), Brittany (Matt), Eric (Aleea), and Amber (Dustin), her Great Grandchildren Olivia Jewett and Enzo Ensign. Her siblings Debroah Searles (Steve), Kathleen Myrtle, Robert Myrtle (Patrica), Steven Myrtle (Maryanne), Hugh Myrtle (Pailin).

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a funeral ceremony to immediately follow at 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A committal service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
