Maureen Baldwin

COHOES – Maureen Baldwin, 79, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026 surrounded by those who loved her.

Maureen was born in New York City on June 24, 1946. She was raised by her mom, Evelyn. She went to St. Catherine of Siena Grammar School and graduated from high school at a ceremony in June 1966 that took place in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.

As life dictated, Maureen went right in to the workforce after graduation joining the staff in the Secretary’s Office of the New York Athletic Club. Maureen was there for an incredible fifty years. She was the right-hand person for the Board of Governors of this landmark institution on Central Park South. During her tenure, she had a reputation of being a person that would get things done, making you feel like you were her only assignment of the day.

She made many friends there and her infectious laugh is something everyone talks about.

Maureen loved to travel, going to places such as Egypt, Ireland and Hawaii; going from New York to Florida on the back of a motorcycle with her friend, Annabelle. She had a group of friends that took many cruises, laughing and drinking their way to retirement.

Retirement was not kind to Maureen as illness forced her to a point where she could no longer be able to travel, but as a silver lining in her dark cloud, Maureen came to Millview of Latham.

In the last several years of Maureen’s life as a resident of Millview, she was treated with kindness, care and dignity. They became her family. The relationship was based on mutual love and respect.

Her smile, laugh and her one-line responses (even when Alzheimers tried to keep it away.) are memories that will be cherished forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY.

Interment will be private.
