Mary L. Owens, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Evergreen Commons Rehab and Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 5, 1943 in Millen, Georgia, a daughter of the late Walter and Patsy Groover Thomas. Mary is a graduate of William James High School; she moved to Albany with her family in the mid 1960's from Stateboro, Georgia.
Mary was very devoted to her church; she was involved in two choirs and acted as both an Usher and a Deconess. Besides Mary's love for her church, she unconditionally loved her family; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be sadly missed.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Clark Owens; son, Clark Anthony Owens (Sharon); five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by twenty brothers and sisters.
A home going celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11am at Mount Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church, 236 N. Pearl Street, Albany, 12207. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery, Albany. A repast will be held following the burial at the church.
