Schenectady~
Mary Ann Hazlett, 97, of Schenectady passed away peacefully on January 13, 2017.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judith Clark of Atlanta, Georgia and Deborah Hazlett of Schenectady, NY and her grandchildren, Anthony & Amanda Hazlett of Salem, MA and Marisa & Dmitry Kozachenok of Atlanta, Georgia.
Born on May 28th, 1920, she was the last surviving daughter of the late Sylvester & Carmela Fusco of Guilderland, NY;
sister to five late siblings: Katherine Iacobucci, Virginia Pulaski, Elizabeth Grasso, S/Sgt. Anthony J. Fusco & Carmine Fusco.
She grew up helping till the fields and feed the livestock of the family's farm & could be found with her father in the morning preparing bushels of peppers for the market. After graduating from Draper HS she served her country as a nurse in the Women's Army Corps. Serving out of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, she tended to embattled soldiers returning from WWII. After her honorable discharge in 1946, she worked as an electrical assembler at the GE plant in Schenectady, NY.
She would marry the late Charles T. Hazlett. She spent the summers of her retirement tending to her tomato garden, solving crossword puzzles & watching Jeopardy. She hosted many hand-prepared family meals during the holidays. She is remembered as a kind, caring woman who graciously devoted her life to providing for her kin.
A Catholic mass will be held at 11AM on Saturday January 20th at St. Paul the Apostle Church on Albany Street, with reception to follow.
