Schenectady- Martin A. Quackenbush, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Hazlett and Margaret Quackenbush. Martin was the devoted husband to Linda S. Quackenbush. They were married 44 years.
Martin enlisted in the United States Navy where he served proudly as a Corpsman in Chelsea, Massachusetts in the Pediatric Ward until his honorable discharge. He went on to work as a Critical Care Nurse at the Stratton Va Hospital for 30 years where he provided kind and compassionate care to his patients and their families.
Martin enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. Martin had a brown belt in Karate. He loved painting oil landscapes for his loved ones. Martin also enjoyed playing the piano, billiards, and bowling.
In addition to his wife, Martin is survived by his sons, Martin E. Quackenbush, Sean Quackenbush, and Stephen (Kerri) Quackenbush; grandchildren, Skylar and Marten Quackenbush; siblings, Roberta (the late Walter) Trench, Robert Quackenbush, Patricia (Paula L.) Quackenbush, Katherine (Michael) Quackenbush Blair, and William (Melissa S.) Quackenbush; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
In addition to his parents, Martin was predeceased by his siblings, Lawrence "Buddy" (Chuck H.) Quackenbush and Daniel P. Quackenbush.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York 12205 on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a funeral service to begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow the cemetery at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, New York.
