Selkirk- Martin J. McDonagh "Skip", 78, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 3, 2016 after a long courageous fight battling cancer. He was the son of the late Martin and Anne (O'Brien) McDonagh of Troy.
Martin graduated from HVCC and enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his proud service, Martin went on to work for GE, Univac, and later retired from CSX (Conrail) Transportation as a signal maintainer.
In his younger years he played softball and was an avid bowler. Recently, he enjoyed his golfing. In retirement he loved being a "snowbird" with his wife in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Martin is survived by his loving, beloved wife of 55 years, Ann R. (Knorowski) McDonagh. He is also survived by his children, Mark (Terry) McDonagh of Fredericksburg, VA and Colleen (Christopher) Snell, of St. Johnsville, NY; his grandchildren, Meghan Wilson and her fiancé Daniel Frost, and Lauryn Wilson; his step-grandchildren, Deirdre Snyder and her husband Chris, and Kristin Covaleskie and her wife Kara Burman; his step-great-grandchildren, Aelan Snyder and Kenley Burman; his siblings, Brian (Linde) McDonagh, Maryanne (Timothy) Ryan, and Gary McDonagh; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date.
