Marshal L. Savage

December 9, 1971 — January 22, 2017

Marshal L. Savage, 45, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at St. Peter's Hospital.

Marshal was the darling husband of over 18 years, to Sandra Savage. He was the beloved son of Carol and the late Robert Savage of Powers, Michigan.

He enjoyed a good life with his wife, adventuring in and outside of the USA, dressing up for shows and down for concerts, slipping away for long lunch dates, and reeling off movie lines or song lyrics for any occasion. He was a man that never denied his wife anything she ever wished for.

Marshal enjoyed his pistols and was a member of the Helderberg Gun Club. He loved riding his motorcycle all over the surrounding states with his biker buddies, and up and down the driveway with his children.

Marshal was a dedicated Information Technology Specialist for New York State, his employer of 23 years. His coworkers called him Rock because he inspired confidence with his "tireless, diligent, caring, and kind" work ethic.

In addition to his mother and his wife, Marshal is survived by his eight children: Michael Bauer - 28, Samantha LaCosse - 27, Tabetha Savage - 23, Elisha Savage - 13, Ezra Savage - 10, Masha Savage - 9, Summer Savage - 8, and Autumn Savage - 7. In 2010, Marshal traveled with his wife to Kyiv, Ukraine to bring home their adopted daughters Masha & Autumn, who like their sister Summer, have Down syndrome. Marshal was proud of and adored all of his children. He was especially capable and tender with his youngest girls.

Marshal is also survived by a large extended family that he cared deeply for, including siblings: Matthew, Marlene, Mark, Brenda, Denise, Paulette, Margaret, Mary, Monica; and grandchildren: Hunter, Jasalynn, and Stephen. He was predeceased in death by siblings Melissa and Michael.

The family would like to thank the EMTs, the Guilderland Police Department, and the emergency room staff at Saint Peter's Hospital for their incredible efforts, and their kindness in the darkest moments.

If you feel moved to honor Marshal in some way, he was a supporter of the Tissue Bank dedicated to Down syndrome research at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
