Albany- Marlee A. Bickel, (McNellis) 76, wife of the late Henry J. Bickel, III of Albany, passed away Thursday,

May 7, 2026 at Artis Senior Living of Somers. Born February 17, 1950, in Johnson City, New York, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Dorothy A. (Rolland) McNellis.

Marlee attended Guilderland Central High School, and then received her bachelor’s degree in computer science at the Sage Colleges. She worked for many years at Grassland Equipment and Irrigation in Latham, NY as a data entry and computer programmer. She later moved to work for New York State in the Homeland Security Department as an associate computer programmer. In Marlee’s retirement, she and Hank would volunteer with their therapy dogs, Glinda and Prancer, at the local libraries, schools, and adult living facilities. Marlee volunteered with several environmental organizations such as the Albany Chapter of ADK, that helped clean the parks, lakes and rivers in the capital region. She was a member of the Bark for Life where she would volunteer. She would also do walks for cancer and Alzheimer’s. Marlee could always be found at these events with her two dogs and beloved husband, Hank. She loved to spend time with her family. Marlee loved to share stories of her young days with her sister. They would laugh for hours remembering all the fun times they had growing up. Marlee’s son was her bright-star. She loved his musical talent and the life he created with his wife. She cherished her time with her granddaughter and attended many of her activities. Marlee enjoyed the outdoors and would spend most of her time kayaking, hiking, and camping at various lakes in the Adirondack Mountains. She and Hank would spend their weekends on different adventures sightseeing while looking for covered bridges. Apastime they both loved to photograph and talk about with their families. Marlee’s favorite places to go was Lake Placid and Keene Valley where she would cross country ski, snowshoe, and hike with Hank and the dogs, and enjoy the beauty of the area.

She is survived by her son Dennis McCumber and his wife Trish of Millwood; one granddaughter, Emma also of Millwood. She is also survived by her sister Colleen Hale and her husband Lee of Rotterdam, NY.

In addition to her husband Hank, she was predeceased by her parents. A calling hour will be held from 5m-6pm at New Comer Cremations & Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY on Friday, June 5, 2026. A memorial service will begin at 6pm.
