Mark T. Handy

Mark Torrance Handy, 55, passed away on January 7, 2018 at Ellis Hospital with his family and friends by his side. Mark passed after a five year, valiantly fought, battle with cancer. Mark was born on August 27, 1962 in Albany, New York. Mark is the son of Walter Handy and the late Linda (Phillips) Widener. After graduating from Remsen Central High School in 1980, Mark was employed as a chef all his life. His greatest joy was cooking, especially for family and friends. He was a passionate Washington Redskins fan for over 40 years. Mark was a chef by trade, a fisherman by choice, and a great father to Jacob.
Mark is survived by his son Jacob; his Father Walter; his former wife and mother of his child, Sandra Wight; his dear Aunt Kathy "Johnnie" and her daughter, Heather. Mark's Uncle Ron and Aunt Shirley were a special part of his life. His cousin Vickie Kramer was a wonderful part of his life. Mark left many friends, especially those friends of his son. Survived by many aunts and uncles and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
