Listen to Obituary

Marjorie Elinore MacDougal, 77, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 28, 2026, at Ellis Hospital after a months‑long battle with a chronic illness.

Born on September 29, 1948, in Schenectady, NY, Marjorie was the daughter of the late George and Elinore Fortulakis. She enjoyed a warm and loving childhood surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Marjorie spent much of her working life at the General Electric Company (GE), where she made lifelong friends, and later retired from the company.

Family was the center of Marjorie’s world. She loved spending time with friends and family, and most importantly, her grandchildren. She created lifelong memories taking them on unforgettable trips to Disney, Arizona, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Wildwood, Long Beach Island, and Salem, just to name a few.

She is survived by her daughter and son‑in‑law, Jill and Matthew Rash; her grandchildren Phillip Beattie, Breanna and Tyler Olsen, Matthew Rash Jr. and Abby Carroll, Jared and Makenzie Rash, and Merrick Rash; and her extended family Faye and Steve Zemgulis, Tanya Dean, and Rebekkah Dean.

A graveside service will be held on June 8, 2026, at 12pm at Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY. Flowers are welcome.

Her greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments. Family and friends were the heart of her world, and her spirit will live on in every memory they hold.
