Marion “Mimi” F. Palmer Michele (1936–2026)

VOORHEESVILLE – Marion “Mimi” Michele, 92, a true daughter of the Capital Region and a woman of remarkable spirit, determination, and compassion, passed away on [Date], leaving behind a legacy of hard work, lifelong learning, and a large, vibrant family.

Born in Albany in 1936 to the late Edward and Lavantia Patterson, Mimi spent much of her life in Voorheesville. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 44 years, Michael Michele Sr., an iconic figure in the community who predeceased her, and briefly with Charles Palmer.

Mimi was a fixture of Voorheesville life for many years, remembered by many behind the counter at Michele’s Grill or scooping ice cream at The Railroad Junction Ice Cream Parlor. After years of service with the U.S. Postal Service, she followed a new calling and graduated as a nurse from St. Peter’s Hospital at the age of 50. Her compassion led her to SPARC in Guilderland, where she spent her final professional years supporting those in drug rehabilitation until her retirement in her 60s.

Mimi’s greatest legacy is her expansive and loving family. She is survived by her eight children: Mary (Richard) Havermale, Michael Michele Jr. (Donna), Margaret (Chet) Melius, Mark (Linda) Michele, Matthew Michele, Melissa (Sal) Celeone, Maria Loman, and Martin (Maxine) Michele, along with 21 cherished grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

A Mass will be held on Tuesday July 28th at 10:30am at St. Matthews Church, 25 Mountainview St, Voorheesville, NY 12186

Interment immediately following after in Calvary Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to: The National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund or Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) to honor Mimi’s passion to helping others.
