Marion Reardon O'Brien, 102, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 10, 2025. Born on August 3, 1923, in New Rochelle, New York, Marion lived a long, full, and gracious life marked by devotion to family, lifelong friendships, and an unwavering generosity of spirit.
Marion graduated from the College of New Rochelle and remained proud of her New Rochelle roots throughout her life. On August 12, 1950, she married Raymond O'Brien, the love of her life. Their marriage of 69 years was a beautiful partnership filled with joy, humor, and deep affection. They built a loving home together and raised four children, who will miss her dearly: Barbara Nussbaum and husband Richard; Ray O'Brien and wife Pam; John O'Brien and wife Randi; and Arthur O'Brien and wife Carole. Marion is also lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her long and rich life.
Marion had a natural gift for bringing people together. She loved to garden, nurture beautiful spaces and share them with friends and family. She was a excellent bridge player - sharp, strategic, and always ready for the next game. A natural hostess, she delighted in socializing and welcoming others, creating warm gatherings filled with laughter and connection.
After their children were grown, Marion and Raymond moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where they built a vibrant circle of friends. In their 90s, they relocated to Albany to be near their children and grandchildren, settling at Avila, where they once again formed meaningful friendships. Marion's family is deeply grateful to her wonderful caregivers, especially Renee Aldi and Elaina Davis, for their kindness, compassion, and devoted care.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Marion's memory to the charity of your choice.
Marion will be remembered for her grace, warmth, strength, and the love she shared so generously. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched over her extraordinary 102 years.
