Marilyn R. Koglmeier

Marilyn Roche Koglmeier was called home to Our Lord on July 18, 2026. She was born July 14, 1930 to Helen and Maurice Roche, in Queens, NY. She was educated in local public and Catholic schools, and attended St. John’s University, Brooklyn, NY. She retired after twenty years of service with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, having served in the New York City and the Syracuse, New York Offices.

Marilyn met her sweetheart, Ernie, on Feb. 7, 1953, at a USO dance in New York City, while he was serving in the Navy. It was the only USO dance either ever attended. They were married Jan. 8, 1955 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Springfield Gardens, Queens, and became the parents of five healthy, wonderful children: Allan (Nancy), Jeanne Muffler (Robert), Donald, Eileen Fuest (John), and Mary Elizabeth Dufort (Mark). They were blessed with fourteen grandchildren: Kristin (Chad), Erin (Jeff), H. John (Vicki), Chandler (Elyse), Kevin, Ashley (Jason), Ceara (Bradley), Chelsea (Max), Sarah, Stephanie (Jordan), Stephen (Jordan), Brendan (Allison), George, Mary Kate (Cristian). They have been doubly blessed with 29 great-grandchildren: Odin, Soren, Axel, Mel, Erica, Colin, Carter, Mason, Jay, Maryn, Charlotte, Sadie, Stella, Jason, John, Killian, Aislin, Bode, Henry, Ada, Luke, Cooper, Henry, Amelia, Penelope, Benjamin, Elliott, Marilyn and Atreus.

Marilyn and Ernie lived in Queens and Newburgh before moving to Cazenovia, NY, where they lived for 46 years before moving to Watervliet, NY, in 2016. Marilyn was active in many local activities in Newburgh and Cazenovia, including the Brownies, Girl Scouts, and 4-H Clubs. In St. James Parish, she was a Religious Education instructor, a Eucharistic Minister, and a Minister to the Homebound. She also was an Ombudsman at a local nursing home, crew member on Cazenovia’s volunteer ambulance service, member and officer of the Starlight Dance Club, and a member of the Willow Bank Yacht Club.

Marilyn loved her Lord, her husband and best friend Ernie, her family, her country, and cared for everyone she knew. She especially loved the ocean, to swim in Cazenovia lake, cross country ski, dance, play games, and have lots of fun.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Helen Roche, her brother, Rev. Maurice A. Roche, C.M., her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Robert Swanwick, and her daughter-in-law, Gail Koglmeier.

Friends and family are invited to attend her calling hour on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the chapel at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 23 Crumitie Rd, Loudonville, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
