Lydia Carbonaro, 106, formally of East Meadow, NY, passed away on August 6, 2026.

Lydia was born on August 1, 1920, a gentle and nurturing soul who spent her life spreading warmth and joy to everyone around her. Known for her quiet, sweet demeanor, Lydia had an extraordinary talent for making those around her feel loved and cared for. From a young age, Lydia discovered her passion for cooking and entertaining. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, filled with the delicious aromas of home-cooked meals and the sounds of laughter and conversation. Every Sunday, Lydia would open her doors to family and friends, creating a tradition that became the highlight of the week. Her home was a sanctuary where everyone felt welcome and cherished a testament to her generous spirit.

Lydia's dedication to her family was unparalleled. She raised her children with unconditional love and support, instilling in them the values of kindness, hard work, and compassion. In addition to her culinary skills, Lydia's ability to bring people together was one of her most cherished gifts. She had an innate understanding of how to make every gathering special, whether it was through her meticulously prepared meals or her thoughtful attention to each guest's needs. Her legacy of love, hospitality, and family togetherness continues to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lydia's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, generosity, and grace. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the many Sundays spent in her warm and welcoming home.

Lydia's life spanned more than a century, witnessing incredible changes and milestones in the world around her. Throughout her 100+ years, she remained a pillar of strength and wisdom, her experiences enriching the lives of those who had the honor of knowing her. Lydia's long life was a testament to her resilience, adaptability, and enduring spirit. She embraced each new chapter with grace and curiosity, leaving behind a legacy that transcends generations. Her century-long journey was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family, making her story one of remarkable endurance and profound impact.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carlo; her parents; and her 4 siblings.

Lydia is survived by her children, sons, Carl Carbonaro, Chris Carbonaro, and her daughter Joyce Claypool (Dennis); grandchildren, Steven, Candice and Carrie; and five great grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Madison, Alexa and Brielle; a favorite aunt to her 37 nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a funeral ceremony to immediately follow, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
