Louise Helen Mahan (Cioppa)
February 16, 1948 — January 24, 2017
Latham- Louise H. Mahan passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. She was born on Feb. 16, 1948, the daughter of the late Helen and Bill Mahan.
Louise graduated from Cardinal McCloskey HS, class of 1966. She worked for several New York State Agencies, retiring in 2009 from Forts Ferry Elementary School as school secretary.
Louise is survived by two sons, Michael (Maggie) R. Cioppa and Stephen (Brittany Glenn) W. Cioppa. Her sister, Isabel (James) Mayer walked with her during her cancer journey the entire time of her struggle. A niece Christine (Joseph) Carhart, a nephew James Mayer, two great-nieces, and three great-nephews. Along her journey, she remained close friends with Donna, Connie, Tina, and Michele.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany. At Louise's request, the funeral service will be private with her family.
Louise had a special concern for the homeless and wished donations be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S Pearl St, Albany, NY 12202.
Louise's family would like to thank the staff of Community Hospice for their care and concern.
