Loretta E. Moore

Loretta E. Moore, 89 years of age, from Alplaus, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23rd at Saint Peter’s Hospital. Loretta was born on November 14, 1936, in Hot Springs South Dakota, and raised in Oregon. Loretta was the daughter of Gottfried Schelske and Erna Huber-Schelske.

Upon earning her Teaching degree at the University of Oregon, Loretta moved to Schenectady, NY where she met her husband Floyd G. Moore, and they married on August 3, 1963. Together they raised two sons, Michael and Daniel.

Loretta established a private school at her home in Alplaus, where she instructed students from kindergarten through sixth grade. She later became a teacher at Schenectady Christian Academy.

Loretta was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schenectady, NY, and was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her interests included subjects related to education and physical fitness. She especially enjoyed spiritual and current event conversations with others, as well as reading the bible and daily devotions.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, with a funeral mass to immediately follow. Interment to follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Loretta would like to recognize her caregivers at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Saint Peter’s Hospital, and Pastor Francis Rigobert for their compassionate support.
