Lawrence (Larry) D. Bellinger of Watervliet, NY, passed away on Friday, August 1st, at the age of 79, after battling Parkinson’s Disease for over 25 years.
He was born January 6th, 1946 to Spencer and Elizabeth Bellinger of Lake Luzerne, NY.
Larry enjoyed an active life with many hobbies. Among them were target shooting, computers-from as early as the 1980s, He loved to cook, everything from his grandmother’s famous Parker House rolls to 10 course French cuisine dinners and everything in between. He did it exquisitely. His greatest passion was music. Writing, performing, playing multiple instruments, then creating it on computers when the disease no longer allowed him to hold instruments.
He grew up with both his parents and maternal grandparents in a beautiful home on the water in Lake Luzerne.
Although his heart always remained there, his father’s research and employment took his family across the country to California. He still managed to spend many summers in NY.
As a young adult he spent his time playing in various rock, blues and country bands. He attended the University of TX at Austin, studying psychology.
He was employed by various agencies in the investigative field until his retirement.
He married his wife Judy in 1993, stepping up to be a great bonus dad and then Papa to her two children and three grandchildren. He was a dearly loved stepfather and PaPa, sharing his knowledge of cooking, music, science, life and giving the best hugs.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Spencer Lawrence and Elizabeth Richmond Bellinger and Judy’s infant grandson Connor.
He is survived by his wife Judy, her children Dean Barrett of Fond du Lac WI, Carrie VanKuren of Watervliet, grandchildren Grey, Kiera, Bridget and several cousins.
An hour of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. Larry's memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Larry requested a donation to be made to public radio station WMHT or tv station PBS.
