Lauri J. Ogden

1956 — 2025

Lauri J. Ogden, 68, wife of Derek J. Ogden, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, with her family by her side after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 38 years and three children Christopher Ogden (Lisa Alagna Ogden), Emilee Ogden, and Stephanie Ogden, along with one grandchild. She is also survived by her mother, Joan Viglione; her siblings, Jim Viglione (Erin), Mark Viglione (Amy), and Jill Viglione; along with her cherished friend, Pam Germann (Greg). She was a dear daughter in law to the late C. Keith and Barbara Ogden.

Born on December 13, 1956 in Poughkeepsie, NY she was the daughter of Cosimo and Joan Viglione. The oldest of four children, she loved spending time with her family growing up. They vacationed almost every year in Narragansett, Rhode Island. She met her friend Pam, when she was 8 years old and they remained close friends until Lauri’s passing. Lauri graduated from Ketcham High school in 1974, where she played basketball and was active in the French club.

She attended Dutchess County Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh. She received her bachelor's degree in studio art in 1978 from SUNY Plattsburgh. After college she lived in Poughkeepsie, NY. She worked at a bakery and made custom doll clothes for a shop in New York City. She loved to travel with her friend Pam, on trips to California, Montreal, Boston, MA and Maine. She started at Waldenbooks in 1983, and managed the store in Colonie NY until 1989. After Lauri’s time at Waldenbooks ended in 2001, she worked for Borders, Barnes & Noble, and CVS Pharmacy. Lauri retired in 2018 to care for her daughter Stephanie full time.

She met her husband, Derek in 1983 while working together at Waldenbooks. They were engaged in 1985 and married in June, 1986. Lauri and Derek had three children, with their youngest Stephanie having Down Syndrome. Lauri was a devoted and caring mother. She was a fantastic cook, with family dinners almost every night. She always made sure the kids had wonderful birthdays, Thanksgivings, and Christmases. Lauri was also the leader of her daughter's girl scout troop. She was very excited to welcome her first grandchild in 2023. Lauri loved vacationing with her husband and children in Rhode Island and North Carolina. She was an avid gardener, always enjoying the blooming flowers of spring and summer. Lauri was a life long dog lover, and was especially fond of her dogs Ginger and Marianne.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to their extended family, friends, and the countless doctors and nurses who supported them during Lauri’s illness.
