Kenneth (Kenny) was born on April 14, 1954, in Kinston, North Carolina to the late Rendie Lee Maye and Jasper Rouse. On May 27, 2026, Kenny peacefully departed this life at Albany Medical Center with his family by his side; Kenny fought a long battle with his illness.
Kenny, also known as 5th Ave and Suga Bowl, was one of 5 children. He was the family professor. Kenny was raised by a Christian Woman and was introduced to God at an early age. As he got older, he always had a relationship with the Lord. Kenny would say, "God is with me wherever and whatever I do, He rolls with me." Kenny was comfortable and okay uniting with his God.
Kenny was educated in the Albany, NY City School system where he graduated from Phillip Schuyler High School. Kenny was an athlete and a scholar during his school years. Kenny also met the love of his life, who was his lifelong partner, Frances Richardson. While in high school he played football and received a scholarship to play at a four-year school. However, Kenny decided to serve his country and joined the United States Marines.
Kenny and Frances created a loving family. There were two children brought into the relationship, Oneal and Sean, and they had a set of twins, Kendall and Kendra.
Kenny returned home from the military and secured a job at the Railroad laying rail tracks for a number of years. Kenny also worked as a technician for Asbestos removers and received a plumber apprentice certification. Kenny would say, "a Man that doesn't work hard shouldn't eat. However, hard work ain't for me."
Kenny was an avid and masterful chess player and taught many of his family and friends how to play chess. Eze can attest to that. He was a keen Scrabble player and enjoyed reading newspapers and playing word games. Kenny loved eating sweets, that Pineapple cake. Kenny was always present for his kids when he was able; But above all he loved his kids and family and enjoyed being around them some of the time. He had a special bond with his friends, hi8s brothers by other mothers.
Kenny was predeceased by his life partner of 50-plus years, Frances Richardson; his son, ONeal; parents, Rendie and Jasper; his siblings, David Maye and Ana-Michelle Rouse-Chatman; his in-laws, Stoney Sr. and Juanita Richardson, Ezra Brown, Elvis, Stoney Jr., Matthew, Gene, and Annie Richardson, and Katie Macon.
Kenny leaves to cherish his memory his children, Sean (Erica Green) Johnson of Albany, NY, Kendall (Tiffany LaCroix) Richardson of Staten Island, NY; Kendra (Roy Clark) Richardson of Schenectady, NY; grandchildren, Jerome, Keosha, Marquis, Marshay, Amani, Kaleaf, Khyrei, Kygii, Kamille, Melanie, Eshauna, and Sean Jr.; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon DeVeaux and Janice Rouse-Brown of Schenectady, NY; sisters-in-law, Chevail Maye of Colonie, NY, Lorenda Harris (Jerry) Williams of Atlanta, GA, Catherine Richardson and Carol Richardson of of Albany, NY, and Patricia Richardson and Lisa Richardson of Tampa, FL; brothers-in-law, Darrell Chatman of Schenectady, NY, Michael DeVeaux of Washington, DC, John Richardson and Eddie (Monique) Richardson of Albany, NY, and Melvin (Jeanette) Richardson of Fayetteville, NC; aunt Flora (Sweetsie) of Detroit, MI; Uncle Lenzy Lofton of Goldsboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
His friend brothers Andrew Parker and Miles Rozier.
