Listen to Obituary

Kathy Denise Wooten, 61 of Schenectady, NY. Kathy dealt with health struggles her entire life. She had been severely hard of hearing since birth, diagnosed in her teens with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), and later in life diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. On February 11, 2026, she was healed and brought home to be with the Lord

Kathy was born on September 27, 1964, in Stoughton, MA but spent much of her young life in Bellingham, WA.

Kathy first loved Jesus and was a member of Bethel Full Gospel Church in Rotterdam. She was a devoted cat mom; her fur babies were her world.

Kathy has Bachelor of Science in Public Health in 2019 from Excelsior College. She was a published author of Paschal Moon and had even begun a sequel. Kathy was a long-term employee of Ellis Hospital in the medical records department but had also worked at St. Peters and with NYS. Although she wasn't a certified interpreter, she helped many Deaf throughout her time at Ellis interpreting in sign language for them. She expressed her love and pride of the language by using it for praise and worship unto the Lord. She did extensive volunteer work for the Arthritis Foundation, making many trips to Washington, D.C. advocating for others with RA and befriending many in the community.

Kathy enjoyed traveling, especially to her favorite beach spot in Bellingham Bay where she would also visit her childhood teacher Mrs. Logghe (Mama). She was a passionate Seattle Seahawk fan and would have loved to have been able to watch them win the Super Bowl. Kathy was patriotic. She was a country girl at heart, enjoying music, food and line dancing. She loved to decorate; her kitchen would be a seasonal theme but especially enjoyed displaying her Pioneer Woman collection. She had Biblical scriptures in every room throughout her home. She was crafty; most recently painting old furniture and making blankets.

Kathy had a great sense of humor even through her difficulties in life. She always remained positive, clinging to her faith, trusting in Jesus for healing. She never let her disabilities define her or prevent her from being adventurous and trying new things. She remained steadfast and forgiving. She was very generous, loved her family immensely and was a dear friend to many.

She is survived by her mother Marlene McCall FeatherKyle who is from Bellingham but currently resides in Texas. Her siblings include Bret James Wooten (Michelle) of Lewisville, Texas and half-sister Pamela Lynn Wooten of Alabama. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her father Bobbly James (Emma) Wooten of Alabama, stepmother Vickie Wooten, sister Michelle Renee Wooten of Bellingham and Trisha Lynn Murray.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2036 at 10:00am at Bethel Full Gospel Church located at 3625 Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY 12306.

In honor of Kathy's love for animals, donations can be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
