Charette, Kathryn (Kay)-LOUDONVILLE, NY Kathryn Phoenix Charette, 94, passed peacefully into eternal life on October 25, 2016 at Evergreen Commons, East Greenbush following a gradual decline in health.

Kay was born on October 31, 1921 to the late William and Catherine (O'Mara) Phoenix of Troy. Fond of her Halloween birthday, Kay recalled her mother joked she was born in a pumpkin patch. A resident of South Troy, she was a parishioner and choir member of St. Mary's Church and a graduate of St. Mary's School. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1938. Kay married Peter F. Charette at St. Mary's Church on October 17, 1945. The couple met while employed at Union National Bank of Troy. They lived in Latham, where Kay worked at the Troy Record. With their children, they spent many years in Middlebury, CT following her husband's transfer with the Tobin Packing Company. She returned to NY, residing in Loudonville with her family in 1971 and worked at the American Heart Association. A parishioner of St. Pius X Church, she was a supporter of St. Pius X school. Kay was a sports enthusiast, a devoted NY Yankees and UConn Huskies fan.

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter F. Charette, originally of Lansingburgh, who died in 1980, her daughter, Diane Charette Barr, who died in 2001, by her brothers and their wives, Col. Homer J. Phoenix, USAF and Audrey Phoenix, Troy Fire Chief, William E. Phoenix, Jr. and Thelma Phoenix, and by her son-in-law, Franklin DeGroot. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Charette DeGroot of Loudonville, her sons, Peter F. Charette, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Loudonville, Kevin T. Charette and his wife Lori of Durham, CT, her sister Joan Fontaine and her husband George of Waterford, as well as four grandchildren, Kelly Charette of Washington, DC, Christopher and his wife Kelly of Schenectady, Danielle Charette of Chicago, IL and Natalie Charette of Durham, CT and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Reagan Charette of Schenectady, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:30am at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville, NY 12211. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 9:00 to 10:00am at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205 prior to the mass on Saturday morning.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
