Kathleen Degener

Kathleen “Kathi” Degener, 76, passed away on January 19, 2026.

Born in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ann DeLeon.

Kathleen was a dedicated fitness enthusiast, who enjoyed riding her bike throughout the Guilderland neighborhoods. She was passionate about decorating her home and landscaping, always maintaining a beautiful lawn, garden, and pond. She cared for the animals, especially the birds, stray cats, and wildlife that visited her backyard.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul Degener Sr. and her brother, Rev. Robert DeLeon, CSC.

She is survived by her sons, Paul Degener Jr., Daniel Degener (Heather), and Brian Degener; grandsons, Brandon and Keane; siblings, Thomas DeLeon, Richard DeLeon (Susan Faith), Diane DeLeon, Laurene Walsh; nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Lil Bear, Niko, Dimitri, and her many fish.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Kathleen during her time of need: Sabrina, Maria, Joanna, and Sharayah. Their compassion, dedication, and respect provided her with comfort and dignity.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Memorial Service to immediately follow at 3 p.m.
