Guilderland- Kathryn Jean (Abbott) Zelezniak, 78, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, December 22, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Doris Abbott. She was the beloved wife of Michael Zelezniak of 59 years.
Jean grew up in New Salem, NY and lived the rest of her life in Guilderland. She was a graduate of Voorheesville Central School and then went on to graduate from Albany Business College. Jean entered Albany Business College in 1955 the same year as her husband Michael entered college.
The college had a recreation room where she would sit on the far corner and each time Michael would look over to her she would give him a big smile. Jean was the Chief Executive Officer of Northeastern Stud Welding Company from 1968-2001.
Jean had an interest in needlepoint and sewing projects for her family and her friends. She collected Hall China dishes. Jean was a member of the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church in Guilderland from 1961 until the day she passed. Jean was very active within the church helping with fundraisers including church auctions and garage sales. Any activity the church held Jean could be found at. She was also a forty-year member of the Home Bureau Chapter and enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society for many years.
